What if things were just black and white?

4 Dec

How often do we all wish that life was black and white? That relationships, important decisions and problems were straightforward?

However, an afternoon spent drawing has shown me that perhaps the state of being black and white is more elusive than first thought. It is a state in which negative space is just as important as positive space; meaning is hidden somewhere between black and white.

Just as drawing with white pencil on black paper requires a different way of thinking, so too would viewing a black and white world. Would we understand it? Or do we need an element of confusion  in order to make sense of the world, and to know our place in it?

What do you think? Is doing away with grey matter the solution?
